Obit: Richard Hansen, 89, formerly of Scottville.

Richard “Dick” Clayton Hansen, age 89 of Owosso, formerly of Scottville passed away on Wednesday December 3, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 27, 1925 in Grant Township, son of the late John and Dagmar (Christensen) Hansen.  He graduated from Scottville High School in 1944.  Richard was a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, serving at Normandy and the European Theater.

Richard married Beverly Stewart on December 31, 1953, they celebrated 60 years together.  He retired from the Mason County Road Commission where he worked for many years.  Richard could also be found working with Don Diesing at many auctions.  He loved fishing and hunting.  He was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge of Ludington where he was recently honored as a Golden Eagle.

Richard is survived by his wife, Beverly Hansen of Owosso; daughters, Cathy (Donald) Nutt of Gaylord and Cindy (James) Kriesel of Owosso; son, Todd (Jaimie) Hansen of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Gibbs of Gaylord, Lori (Brad) Prince of Orlando, FL, Donald (Kimberly) Nutt, II of Gaylord, Brian Kriesel of Traverse City, Jason (Michelle) Kriesel of Dallas, TX, Elizabeth Hansen and Richard Hansen of Houston, TX; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Joyce) Hansen of Scottville and Harold Hansen of Ludington; brother-in-law, Richard Stewart of Show Low, AZ; sister-in-laws, Irene Hansen of Muskegon, Evelyn Hansen of Grand Rapids, Vivian Wahr of Muskegon and Bertha Stewart of Show Low, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leslie, Charles and Donald; sister, Mabel Keith; brother-in-law, Clarence Keith, Melvin Wahr, Robert Rahn and Richard Slawinski; and sister-in-laws, Doris Hansen, Betty Rahn, Geraldine Slawinski and Ethel Stewart.

Funeral services for Richard will be held at 3:30PM on Saturday December 6, 2014 at Oak Grove Funeral Home with Pastor John Hansen officiating.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 2:30PM until time of service.  Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Scottville.
