“Driver stated he was going 55 mph; lost control on the ice; and rolled the vehicle over,” the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report states. “Road conditions were icy, snow-covered and very slippery.”

No other vehicles were involved in the 4:45 a.m. crash. Ronald Joseph Ruggero was traveling south on US-31 when his pickup truck slid off the expressway; went across the southbound on-ramp; and came to rest near some small trees by the shoulder of the road.

Ruggero, who was wearing a seatbelt, received minor injuries in the crash and was the  vehicle’s only occupant, the report states. He was transported by an Oceana EMS ambulance for medical treatment, and his truck was towed from the scene.
