SCOTTVILLE — Every Monday a group of women gather at the Scottville Area Senior Center to share their love of quilting. The group, known as Sandy’s Quilting Friends, has met for many years. They originally met at the Sue Riffle residence until the group got too large. The name comes from Sue’s dog, Sandy. The quilts are typically made for charity from materials that the ladies have accumulated through the years. The group is not exclusive, anyone is welcome, even beginners (and most likely some menfolk too).

Most recently quilts have been given to the American Red Cross (for disaster victims), Habitat for Humanity, Eagle Village, the West Shore Pregnancy Care Center and local fire departments, to name a few. The only time the group raises money is when it raffles a quilt during Harvest Festival.

Anyone wishing to help them out, may inquire with the senior center.
