Sniegowski wins judge race.

LUDINGTON — Susan Sniegowski will become the first female judge in Mason and Lake counties. On Tuesday the Ludington attorney defeated Mason County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Spaniola for the seat of 51st Circuit Court judge. Sniegowski will take office on Jan. 1 after Judge Richard Cooper retires after 35 years on the bench.

Sniegowski defeated Spaniola with a total of 6,298 to 5,554; winning in both counties.

She was also Mason County’s first female prosecutor, serving from 2005 through 2008. In 2008, Spaniola defeated Sniegowski for the prosecutor seat, an office he has held since.
