Ludington man missing since Wednesday, may be in Eden Township.

Deputies from Mason County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a missing Ludington man. Leonard Allen Vunck, 67, was last seen Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the morning when he called for a taxi to take him from his Ludington residence to the Eden Township area in southeastern Mason County.

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said Vunck had in his possession a long gun or possibly a pellet gun, a tent and ammunition. Cole said Vunck told a friend he was going to meet some friends to hunt. He was last seen by the taxi cab driver walking off into the woods.

Vunck is a white male, 6-feet tall, 230 pounds with grey hair and hazel eyes.  It is unknown what clothing he was wearing.

The sheriff’s has sent out a be on the lookout for Vunck to the surrounding counties and has obtained a mental health pickup order for him.  This order has been entered into the national database.

Those close to Vunck state he has done this in the past, Cole said. “However he lives with a mental illness and they are concerned for his safety.”
