LUDINGTON — Sandcastles Children’s Museum has been awarded a $4,000 grant from the Great Lakes Energy People Fund. The grant will be applied to the museum’s capital campaign, Vision 2020. The Great Lakes People Fund provides assistance to communities and non-profits within the Great Lakes Energy customer area. Any Great Lakes customer can contribute to the People Fund by agreeing to have each bill rounded up to the next dollar amount.
Sandcastles Children’s Museum, located at the northwest corner of Ludington Ave. and Harrison St., provides the community with a hands on activity center that encourages children and families to learn and grow together. The exhibits are designed to stimulate kids’ curiosity, unleash their imaginations, and encourage interaction between children and adults. The museum has many different interactive exhibits and offers many special programs and presenters during the year that provide new and exciting learning experiences for our children.
The People Fund grant will be applied toward improvements and safety updates to the beautiful room upstairs in our historic building. The renovation will take place this winter. It will give us additional exhibit space that will alleviate crowding during the summer months and allow us to bring back popular exhibits such as Grandpa’s Farm.
