Scam suspects flee police

October 23, 2014

NEWAYGO COUNTY —  Michigan State Police troopers from the Hart post issued a press release Thursday morning, Oct. 23, regarding scam suspects fleeing police.

“The Michigan State Police attempted to meet with the suspects; however, they fled in in a newer tan Chevrolet Impala, four door, with black rims,” the press release states. “The vehicle was last seen near the Grand Rapids area.”

The suspects are reportedly involved in “a fraudulent scam where (they) had the victim provide their bank information,” the press release states. “The suspects then made deposits with fraudulent checks and made several cash transactions from the account in the Livonia and Newaygo areas. The suspects later made arrangements to meet the victim to obtain some cash, when law enforcement was contacted.”

The Hart post covers a four-county area including Oceana, Mason, Newaygo and Lake counties.
