MANISTEE — Parkdale Auto and Transmission provides service to all sizes and makes of vehicles. “We are the only repair shop around that has a full service collision center under the same roof,” says owner John Reed. “In addition to repairing personal vehicles we also service many fleet accounts locally and nationwide.”

John says Parkdale Auto and Transmission accepts all after market warranty companies.

One of the business’ specialities is transmission repairs. Recently, Gerry Fetters of Ludington came on board to offer his expertise.

“You can’t have a conversation about transmissions without hearing Gerry’s name,” John says.

Gerry is state certified with over 20 years of experience. He says he has worked on between 10,000 and 15,000 transmissions in his career. “Most master techs will not rebuild transmissions,” Gerry says. “They know it’s broke but they don’t know what’s wrong with it.”

Parkdale Auto and Transmission features an 18,000 pound lift that allows service on larger trucks, fleet vehicles and campers. They also rent U-hauls and have a full line of moving supplies including hitches and accessories.

For the more basic needs, John says they sell tires with free rotations when a set of four is purchased and also oil changes for $19.95.

John’s greatest pride, though, is the quality of customer service his shop offers. “It’s easy to say but not often accomplished. My employees are empowered to make decisions to ease in the repair of our customers’ vehicles. They take continuing education classes all year long.”
