EDEN TWP. — A Custer area woman was transported to the hospital by ambulance following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Chauvez and Darr roads about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. The crash occurred when a Ford F-150 pickup, driven by a 67-year-old Custer man crossed into the path of a Ford Explorer pickup, driven by an 82-year-old Custer woman. According to Mason County Sheriff Deputy Kyle Boyd, the F-150 was westbound. Boyd said the driver told him that he was temporarily blinded by the setting sun as he attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Darr Road, causing him to pull into the path of the eastbound Explorer.
The driver of the Explorer was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by Life EMS ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Also responding to the scene was Scottville Fire Dept., Custer Fire Dept. and Michigan State Police.
No citations were issued.
