Gun slinging wedding reception guest lands in jail; beer runner arrested

GRANT TWP. — A 21-year-old Scottville man was arrested early Sunday morning for felony assault with a weapon during a wedding reception in the 6700 block of North U.S. 31. At 2:36 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a call of an assault with a firearm, no shots were fired. The suspect was lodged in the Mason Jail on two counts of felonious assault, two counts of felony firearm and one count of assault and battery. A rifle was also recovered during the investigation.

PERE MARQUETTE TWP. — Deputies from Mason County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 21-year-old Ludington man Saturday at 1:53 a.m. at U.S. 10 and Pere Marquette Hwy. after deputies spotted a vehicle which had been reported stolen earlier. The owner of the vehicle advised deputies, following the stop, that it was all a “misunderstanding of a beer run,” according to a report from Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. The driver was charged with driving while license suspended first offense.

5:09 p.m.: A 19-year-old Muskegon man was ticketed following a one vehicle crash at Jebavy Dr. and Fountain Rd. in Hamlin Twp. The driver, who received minor injuries, told deputies he had fallen asleep, which caused him to run off the road and overturn.

Sept. 20

12:29 p.m.: A 65-year-old Walkerville man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a two vehicle crash, no injuries, U.S. 10 and P.M. Hwy., P.M. Twp.
2:30 p.m.: A 25-year-old Scottville man was arrested on a warrant arrest at Oceana Drive and U.S. 31 freeway, Summit Twp. The warrants were for probation violations.
7:20 p.m.: A 22-year-old Ludington man was arrested following a traffic stop at Reinberg Ave. and Johnson Rd., City of Scottville, for an outstanding bench warrant out of Mason County.
