911 millage passes

The Mason-Oceana 911 millage request passed in both Mason and Oceana counties. The .14 mill request passed 4,146-1,108 in Mason County and 2,656-1,187 in Oceana County.

“I’m very pleased”, said Mason-Oceana 911 Director Ray Hasil.  “This has been a difficult journey for the employees and 911 Board that started almost one year ago”.

The new millage request will help fund the center through 2019, the year when all bond payments on the center are complete.  The new millage was necessary due to persistent declines in the center’s local 911 surcharge revenues that account for 78% of their funding.

“We focused on transparency with addressing our budget problems and providing that information to the public.  I’m happy the responders and public we serve will continue to receive the quality of service they expect and deserve”.
