Calling all cardboard and racing enthusiasts

LUDINGTON — The Ludington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is still accepting applications to participate in the 2014 Harbor Festival Cardboard Boat Races on July 2, 2014. Deadline to sign-up is Monday, June 30 and registration is free.

The race challenges amateur boat builders to design, build and navigate boats made entirely of corrugated cardboard. The event will take place at Stearns Park beach.

Races will take place within age categories. Two person teams will compete in the 11 and under, 12 – 14 and 15 – 17 age divisions. Individuals competing in the 18 and up age division will compete individually.

Over $375 of cash and prizes will be awarded. The CVB will be awarding prizes to first through third place finishers.
