LUDINGTON — A 30-year-old Scottville woman has been charged with unarmed robbery of a Scottville gas station earlier this week. Jaralee Chaloux Sobers was arraigned this afternoon in front of the magistrate in 79th District Court in connection with the early Tuesday morning robbery of the Admiral gas station at 130 W. State St.

Sobers was arrested last night in Kent County on a warrant issued out of Mason County. She was transported back to Ludington today and is now in the Mason County Jail on a $75,000 cash bond. The charge is a 15-year felony. Her preliminary examination is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2 at 11:15 a.m. in district court.

Sobers allegedly stole $700 from the gas station Tuesday around 2:30 a.m. She apparently threatened the clerk that others were waiting outside to do harm to him if he didn’t wait 5 minutes to call 911. She then apparently walked away.

Sheriff’s deputies and Scottville police officers conducted investigations since then. At one point, the sheriff’s K-9 unit Cash was used. Several deputies, police and detectives were seen Wednesday for several hours at Thornwild Apartments on the northeast side of Scottville. Sheriff Kim Cole told MCP that a search warrant had been executed Wednesday but did not specify the location.
