LUDINGTON – The West Shore Art Fair will hold a poster reveal reception on Thursday, June 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Main Gallery of the Ludington Area Center for the Arts at 107 S. Harrison St.
Kicking off the final countdown to the juried 2014 West Short Art Fair that takes place July 5-6 at Ludington City Park, the reception will feature the unveiling of this year’s poster design by award-winning artist and Ludington resident Chris VanWyck. Light snacks and wine will be served, and VanWyck will be on hand to sign numbered copies of a limited-edition, 18 x 24 unframed silkscreen prints of his artwork, which will be available for purchase that evening for $75.
There also will be a sneak peek at some of the 100 artists that will be exhibiting at the West Shore Art Fair, plus an announcement of the new fall lineup of events and programs coming to the Ludington Area Center for the Arts.
VanWyck is an arts and culture advocate with more than 25 years of community engagement, both through his day job as brand manager at CiesaDesign in Lansing, and as an artist in his own right. VanWyck’s award-winning print design work is evident as the creator of the East Lansing Art Fair’s 50th anniversary poster in 2013, which won Best Use of Color in the 18th Annual Sunshine Artist Show Poster Contest. In addition to his brand designs appearing on businesses in greater Lansing, throughout Michigan and nationally, his art also is seen in public spaces such as at ArtPrize 2012 with his “Be Still” stainless steel sculpture as a modern twist on the iconic Adirondack chair. VanWyck is husband of Corrin VanWyck, executive director of the Ludington Area Arts Council.
