As another school year draws to a close, Mason County and the surrounding area will be saying goodbye to many of their graduating seniors. The 2013-14 graduating classes will be walking across the stages of many area gym stages, collecting diplomas and preparing for the next chapter in their lives.
See schedule below.
Ludington High School Principal Dale Horowski said LHS will be graduating 135 seniors, which is one of the smallest graduating classes in recent years. He stated that the senior and junior classes have been a lot smaller in size, but this smaller bubble will not last too much longer because the freshmen class that will graduate in 2017 will be back around 200 students.
“This senior class has been a great group of kids,” Horowski said. “The senior leadership has been a real pleasure. We wish them all the best.”
Ludington will hold its graduation ceremony at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 1 at Hawley Gymnasium.
Mason County Eastern Schools will hold its graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. tonight in the high school gym. MCE will be congratulating 31 high school seniors this school year. Superintendent and High School/Middle School Principal, Paul Shoup stated that this year’s seniors worked very hard to reach their goals.
“They are great kids,” he said. “Most of them worked really hard towards future plans. They got a solid education and a plan for the future. Most of them plan on enrolling in college, a few will enter the work force and a few will be going to the military.”
Journey High School will also be holding its graduation at 7 p.m. tonight at L.F. Peterson Auditorium in Ludington. Journey will be honoring the graduation and achievement of 32 of its student body.
Mason County Central High School will hold its graduation at 7 p.m., Friday, May 23 in the high school gym. High School Principal Brad Jacobs stated that this was another great year at MCC.
“This was an exceptional class,” he said. “Academics, athletics and fine arts, they were all around great kids, who had a lot of accolades and scholarships. We are very proud of them.”
Pentwater High School will be honoring 21 senior graduates at this year’s graduation commencement. The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, May 23 in the high school gym. Superintendent and principal, Mary Marshall stated that this year’s class will be greatly missed.
