SCOTTVILLE — The Scottville Clown Band Shell committee has announced its 2014 entertainment season. This year’s band shell entertainment will include the traditional Tuesday night concerts as well as four Friday night movies later in the summer.
This year’s concert series is dedicated to the memory of Lee Kimes, who served for many years as chairman of the band shell committee. Lee passed away earlier this year. He also painted the band shells many times in its over 25 years of existence. Fittingly, Lee’s granddaughter, Chloe, performs with the season’s debut band, Awesome Distraction.
The Tuesday night concert series begins May 27 and continues until Sept. 2. All performances begin at 7 p.m.
May 27: Awesome Distraction — vintage music
June 3: Cats N Jammers (performing at Scottville mall from 4 to 7 p.m.); The Loft Session (at the band shell at 7 p.m.) – 60s, 70s progressive rock.
June 10: Acoustic Duet featuring Shayla Janae O’Brien and Tyler Reed
June 17: Zeek and Walley Strummin and Drummin
June 24: The Road Less Traveled with Malie and Emma
July 1: Scottville Clown Band Patriotic Concert
July 8: Elder Gang — classic rock
July 15: John Merchant and Friends, featuring Bud Summers — classic rock
July 22: Nick Pfent
July 29: Gasta Irish duo
Aug. 5: Mike Luusua
Aug. 12: Red Line
Aug. 19: Scottville Clown Band Coming Home Concert
Aug. 26: Mason County Central High School Jazz Band
Sept. 2: Cheryl Wolfram Trio
Free Friday Night Movies will return this year as well. Movie dates are July 11, July 18, July 25 and Aug. 1. The movie line-up will be announced soon.
The band shell is operated by a committee, which includes representatives from Scottville Optimist Club, Scottville Clown Band and the community. It operates on donations. Tax deductible donations may be made out to Scottville Clown Band, 405 N. Main St., Scottville, MI 49454.
