PERE MARQUETTE TWP. — A 60-year-old Scottville man was trapped inside his van after the vehicle rolled over on Pere Marquette Highway about 6 p.m. Saturday night. Law enforcement had been on the lookout for the vehicle following complaints about a reckless driver, matching the description of the vehicle, a sheriff’s deputy said on the scene.
The Chevrolet van was north on P.M. Highway when it apparently left the roadway and traveled in the ditch west of the guardrail north of Lenz Road. The van traveled about 100 yards before it flipped over, near the end of the guardrail.
Ludington and Pere Marquette firefighters used extrication tools to remove the man from the van. He was the transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by Life EMS. Deputies said injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Deputies said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police also responded to the scene.
