West Shore Education Service District students placed second in a recent regional CTE Construction competition hosted here.
This year the instructors decided to have students build chicken coops because the building concepts are similar to home construction. The chicken coop project also incorporated compound miters in the rafters (all cut with circular saws,) a shed style roof, and 2 openings (window and door.)
Each school had four students working as a team. The teams had 3.5 hours to complete the build. Three local contractors judged the project on safe building practices, quality of work, and quantity of work.
