BALDWIN — Baldwin High School is hosting its second Decision Day Bash on Thursday, May 1. The event is being held in celebration of the members of the senior class making their decisions about what their next stages in life will be, 95% of the graduating class has made a commitment to continue on to higher education or the armed services after graduation.
“This celebration will continue to create a college-going culture within Baldwin High School, as well as within the Lake County community,” said Stiles X. Simmons, superintendent of Baldwin Community Schools.
“We are extremely proud of our senior class for taking this next big step for their future,” said Calvin B. Patillo, Baldwin Junior/Senior High School principal.
Decision Day Bash will take place at 2 p.m. in the secondary school gymnasium. Students, parents, school administrators, teachers, staff and community members are invited to attend.
The event is sponsored by the Baldwin Promise Authority which governs the Baldwin College Access Center and Promise. Its purpose is to create a college-going culture through awareness and knowledge for students in the Baldwin Community School district. In addition to initiatives focusing on creating a college-going culture, students are promised to receive financial support of up to $5,000 for four years to pursue higher education after graduating from the school district.
