Eric Knysz, the man who killed Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield, has reportedly attempted to commit suicide, Fox 17 TV in Grand Rapids has reported.
Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court Judge Richard Cooper sentenced the 20-year-old Irons resident last week to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the Sept. 9, 2013 killing of Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield.
Knysz is currently serving at Reception & Guidance Center in Jackson. Sources have told MCP that Knysz is in critical condition at Allegiance Health. He apparently tried to use a bed sheet and is on life support.
“He attempted suicide this afternoon but is still alive at this point and is currently housed at a Jackson hospital,” said Michigan Dept. of Corrections spokesman Russ Marian.
We will update as we find out more information.
