Scottville woman arrested for meth possession

BRANCH TWP. — A 22-year-old Scottville woman was arrested by Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies Friday for possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

Hope Elaine Sodders, 203 W. Third St., Scottville, was arrested following a traffic stop at 8:08 p.m. Friday at Benson and Marshall roads. Deputies located 5 grams of meth and 15 grams of marijuana in Sodders’ vehicle.

She was lodged in Mason County Jail and arraigned on the felony charge of methamphetamine possession and the misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.

A preliminary examination in 79th District Court is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on May 1. Bond was posted at cash/surety 10% of $3,500.

Other activity of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for March 21 through March 23, 2014 included:

March 21: 

– 6:33 a.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Quarterline and Townline roads, Grant Twp.

– 11:06 a.m.: Assist at Journey School, 1900 block of West U.S. 10, Amber Twp. Two students had a disagreement. It was settled prior to arrival of law enforcement.

– 11:33 a.m.: Assist to Kent County Sheriff’s Office at Alpine Motel, Branch Twp. Assistance in locating a subject who left his wallet in a Kent County gas station.

– 3:26 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, U.S. 31 and Sugar Grove Rd., Sherman Twp.

– 11:12 p.m.: A 30-year-old Ludington man was arrested for domestic violence at Best Western Hotel, 5005 W. U.S. 10, Pere Marquette Twp. MCSO was called to a disturbance at the hotel.

– 11:45 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Hansen and Meyers roads, Amber Twp.

March 22: 

– 11:33 a.m. Disturbance, 2900 block of West Kinney Road, Riverton Twp. Assistance rendered.

– 2:28 p.m.: Suspicious situation, 300 block of North Campbell Rd., Branch Twp. Open door found at a seasonal residence. Unfounded.

– 10:35 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, U.S. 31 off ramp and Pere Marquette Hwy., PM Twp.

March 23: 

– 12:57 a.m.:  Alarm activation, 900 block of East Ludington Ave., City of Ludington.

– 1:41 a.m.: A 33-year-old Washington state man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated first offense following a traffic stop on Betty Ave., PM Twp.

– 7:21 p.m.: Assist to Scottville Police Dept., 200 block of West State St., City of Scottville.

– 8:41 p.m.: A 32-year-old Ludington man was arrested in the 1400 block of North Dennis Road, Amber Twp., by deputies for an outstanding warrant of failure to appear in reference to a civil case in Mason County.
