Gus Macker funding applications

LUDINGTON — The Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications from charities that want to receive funding from proceeds accrued from the 2014 Gus Macker 3-On-3 Charity Basketball tournament.

Completed applications are due in the chamber of commerce office by the close of business on Monday, April 28, 2014. Applications can either be downloaded from the chamber website, www.ludington.org, or picked up at the office, 5300 W. US 10 in Pere Marquette Township.

Requests for funds will be reviewed and selected by the Gus Macker Charity Selection committee. Selections will be made taking into consideration the impact of the project on the local communities.

The amount of money awarded to the designated charities or non-profit organizations will be  dependent on the profitability of the overall tournament and the amount of volunteer effort provided by the charity.

 The annual tournament is scheduled for June 21 and 22, 2014. The event will be held at Stearns Park with approximately 50 basketball courts set up to accommodate approximately 3,600 players, their families, and friends.
