Ludington woman pleads to stealing purse

LUDINGTON — Sheila Ranae Henson, 32, of 504 E. Danaher St., Apt. 1, Ludington, pleaded guilty to larceny today in 51st Circuit Court. Henson was initially charged with larceny of a building, fourth offense, which has a maximum penalty of four years in prison, plus an additional four years for habitual offender fourth offense.

Henson accepted a plea agreement from the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office for larceny of a building, habitual offender third offense, which carries a maximum penalty of eight years in prison. Under the agreement, she will receive a sentence of up to one year in jail, discretionary, serving six months up front. The sentence would run concurrent with another sentence she is serving in Lake County.

Ludington, was arrested Dec. 4, 2013 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) for a felony of stealing a purse at Wendy’s Restaurant in Pere Marquette Township on Aug. 27, 2013.

She told Judge Richard Cooper that while working at Wendy’s Restaurant she stole a customer’s purse and took around $100 out of the purse. She left the purse on a public transportation bus.

Her sentencing will take place on March 18 at 2 p.m.
