PERE MARQUETTE TWP. — Emergency patients in Mason County who need transport to the hospital may get a ride in Life EMS’s new Safety Concept 3.0 vehicle. According to a release from the Grand Rapids based for-profit ambulance service, the new Mercedes ambulance was custom built with specifications from Life EMS.
“We are always looking at ways that we can create an even safer and more comfortable patient environment that helps reduce anxiety during what might be one of the most stressful experiences in a patient’s life,” said Jeff Stockhill, director of northern operations for Life. “This is not your standard ambulance interior; this vehicle is a radical departure from the norm and begins to look at how we can use today’s technology to create a totally new patient experience.”
The press release stated that the interior of the vehicle is different from a traditional ambulance. The new patient treatment interior features include soft interior colors, ambient lighting, nature-themed artwork and recessed lighting.
Life EMS Ambulance teamed up with American Emergency Vehicles, a leading ambulance manufacturer, at the onset of the vehicle’s design to reshape not only how equipment is accessed and how emergency personnel work in the space, but how the compact environment affects the patient.
Life EMS Ambulance plans to use this new design platform to eventually replace its ambulance fleet. Other features of the new ambulance include a Mercedes power train, a five-point restraining system, surfaces with rounded and padded corners.
Life EMS is the contracted emergency transportation provider for Mason County. It has stations on West First Street in Pere Marquette Township and on North Main Street in Scottville.
