LUDINGTON — A 50-year-old homeless woman was hospitalized early this morning after she apparently used her vehicle and a Ludington school building to attempt suicide.
Ludington Police Department was called to the south side of the Donald Baldwin Community Pool complex shortly after midnight for a report of a vehicle that had driven into the building.
The impact was so severe that the Ludington Fire Department rescue unit was called to extricate her from the car, using its extrication tools. She was transported to Ludington hospital and then later transported to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Police Chief Mark Barnett said the woman had indicated to officers on the scene that she wanted to end her life. Barnett said she had no connection to the school system.
