LUDINGTON — The Zonta Club of Ludington recently made a donation of $2,500 to the COVE (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters) capital campaign. COVE is in the process of raising money for its new $2.4 million facility, which will be located on Ludington Avenue, replacing the 110-year-old house that currently serves as the organization’s shelter and the modular office building.
The donated funds came from the Club’s Zonta/Shirley Smedley Memorial Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation for Mason County. Debra J. Goodwin, Chair of the COVE Capital Campaign, was available to accept this donation on COVE’s behalf. This donation was made to show Zonta Club of Ludington’s support of the Zonta International’s “Just Say No” campaign to end the violence against women both locally and worldwide, a club press release stated.
