LUDINGTON — A Hamlin Township woman faces up to a year in jail for stealing a cell phone while she was a patient at Memorial Medical Center (now Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital). Kristen Brooke Iverson, 27, 5633 N. Jebavy Dr., accepted a plea agreement in 51st Circuit Court today on the charges of larceny to a building.

She was arrested on Aug. 2, 2013 by Ludington Police Department after she stole an iPhone from another patient during an emergency room visit. Iverson told the court that she went to the ER because she had a magrain. She saw the iPhone sitting on a bed in another room and she took it. Police tracked down Iverson, who has a criminal history, later that day and recovered the phone after searching her car.

She pleaded guilty, as charged, for larceny to a building. The felony charge has a maximum punishment of four years in prison. Under the terms of the plea, she will be sentenced to one year in jail, serving the first six months up front and the remainder at the court’s discretion.

On Aug. 28, 2013, Iverson was found guilty of controlled substance possession of marijuana. At that time, she was sentenced to 90 jails in jail and one year discretionary jail for two years.
