Business leader, Bob Smith, dies

SCOTTVILLE — Scottville businessman Robert “Bob” Smith died Monday afternoon. Smith was the owner of Smith & Eddy Insurance based in Scottville. He started working for his father, Robert Smith, in 1974 after graduating from Michigan State University. Over the years he grew the business from its Scottville base to include offices in Ludington and Manistee. Earlier this year, the company opened a new building in downtown Scottville.

Bob and his wife, Patty, had five children. He was an active member of the community, involved with many organizations through the years. We will post more information later.
