Tire fire

RIVERTON TWP. — A large pile of tires on fire created a big black plume of smoke over Riverton Township this afternoon. Firefighters from Riverton and Scottville fire departments responded to the fire behind the Petersen farm at 1316 W. Marrison Rd. around 4:30 p.m. The initial call was for a possible woods fire. Upon arriving, Riverton Fire Chief Joe Cooper reported a large pile of tires on fire. The fire had also caused a small grass fire.
