HAMLIN TWP. — Anthony Zoulek of Shelby was fishing at the end of the dock by Waterside Resort Wednesday night around 10 p.m. when he saw something fall into Hamlin Lake.
“At first I thought it was a motorized para-glider,” he said. “It looked like it was gliding across the lake.” Zoulek said he saw a silhouette of the object and it disappeared into the lake. It didn’t have lights and it didn’t make any sound. “This is the first time I ever saw something like that so I thought it would be best to call 911.”
Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Hamlin Township Fire Department responded. Hamlin Fire’s boat was used to search for the object between the South Bayou and Middle Bayou. After about an hour nothing was found and authorities cleared the scene.
In July several people along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Summit and Pentwater townships thought they had seen a similar object fall from the sky. After many hours of searching, nothing was found in that case either.
