Harvest Festival committee seeking help

August 9, 2013

SCOTTVILLE — Earlier this week some changes were made to this year’s Harvest Festival. As a result, the festival’s committee has increased its need for volunteers and funding.

“In continuing the partnership between the Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce, Scottville Main Street, Mason County Central Schools Educational Foundation, Scottville Businesses and the City of Scottville, some events that had originally been scaled back in order to transition the festival have been returned to the schedule,” City Manager Amy Williams stated in a press release.

“Scottville Main Street and the Chamber have been in discussions regarding transitioning the festival to Main Street since late fall 2012. The MCC Educational Foundation became interested in partnering with the Harvest Festival Committee in the spring, with the idea of providing a homecoming or alumni component.  For this year’s festival, we are in need of persons to assist with the Queen’s Coronation and the Grand Parade.  Other volunteers will be needed as well for various other activities.”

Anyone wishing to assist should contact the Chamber of Commerce at 231-845-0324or the Scottville Main Street Manager at 231-757-4729.

“With your help we can make this a great festival,” Williams said.
