Ludington likely to run Pentwater sewer treatment plant

July 22, 2013

LUDINGTON — The City of Ludington and the Village of Pentwater are joining forces to operate the village’s new waste water treatment facility. During its regular meeting tonight the city council is expected to approve an agreement with the village to provide staff up to 20 hours per week to operate and manage the new plant.

Pentwater will be responsible for operating and capital costs and Ludington will receive $110,000 per year, which will be considered sewer fund revenue.

The agreement runs through Dec. 1, 2014 and may be renewed upon mutual agreement between the city and village. The agreement may be terminated by either party upon providing 90 days written notice.

Pentwater has already approved the agreement. City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. at Ludington City Hall, 400 S. Harrison St.
