Heat advisory continues until midnight

The area remains under a severe heat advisory until midnight tonight. The National Weather Service reports high temperatures this afternoon and Thursday may be in the mid-90s.

This means it’s another great day to head to the beach!

Here are the current conditions for the Lake Michigan shoreline and Mason County (including Pentwater) as of 10:30 a.m. today.

Lake Michigan water temperatures:

Ludington Stearns Park: 75 F

Ludington State Park (Big Sable Point): 75 F

Summit Park: 75 F

Pentwater: 75 F

Afternoon air temperatures:

Ludington: Mostly sunny with temperatures reaching 87 degrees. Humidity: 61%; wind: west-southwest at 9 mph.

Scottville and Pentwater: Mostly sunny with temperatures reaching 93 degrees. Humidity: 49%; wind: west-southwest at 12 mph increasing to 14 mph later.
