Hospital north entrance closed through Thursday

Alternate drop-off procedures in effect next two weeks

LUDINGTON — Memorial Medical Center’s main north entrance, facing Lawndale Street, was closed beginning 7 a.m. today until 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, as new concrete is installed in front of the entrance. An alternate entrance will be provided and a staff member posted to help patients and visitors find the temporary entrance.

In addition, alternate patient drop-off procedures will be in effect for the next two weeks as the access road around the north entrance is rebuilt and paved.

Weather permitting, the construction around the north entrance will be completed July 12 and traffic patterns will be restored to normal. Signage will be installed to help direct traffic during the project.

Temporary drop-off and entrance details

For the duration of the north entrance repaving project, patients will be dropped off at the east side of the building near the north entrance.

During the daytime hours on Wednesday and Thursday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., a little-used side exit door on the east side of the building will be the temporary main entrance. A staff member will be posted at the door to help people find their way and provide wheel chairs to those who need them.

When work on the concrete ends on Wednesday at 4:30 pm, a wooden plank walkway will be installed to provide access to the regular north entrance doors.

By 4:30 pm Thursday, the new concrete sidewalk should be complete and the north entrance doors will re-open permanently. However, due to rebuilding and repaving the access road, the drop-off zone will remain east of the entrance, rather than under the north canopy.

Auto routing changes

Due to construction of the access road to the north entrance, only the perimeter road east of the hospital and the parking lots near the north entrance will be available for auto traffic near the north entrance. The temporary drop-off area will be accessed through the east parking lot. Signs will be installed to show the route.

Parking

Patient and visitor parking is available in the lots north and east of the north entrance. The east lot is small and will often be full. The north lot has ample parking and includes handicap spaces.
