LUDINGTON – Ludington resident Tim Mohr died Thursday night following a fire at his home. Mohr lived on the second floor of the two-story home at 506 S. George St. His brother, Pat, lived on the first floor.
Tim’s daughter, Crystal, confirmed that her father passed away following the fire. She said she thought he was 45-years-old. The Ludington Police Department issued a press release at 8:30 a.m. confirming one person had died, but did not release the name.
“I loved him very much and he has taught me a lot to get through life,” Crystal Mohr, 19, said about her father. “I am going to miss him so much.” Crystal, who lives in Texas, was Tim’s only child.
Ludington Fire Department was called to the fire about 11 p.m. Thursday. “At the time of the call, responding units were advised there was possibly a victim trapped in the upstairs apartment,” the release said. “Upon arrival, officers were unable to gain entry to the only access door to the upstairs apartment due to the intensity of the fire.
“The Ludington Fire Department was able to gain entry to the apartment after extinguishing the fire enough for a search team to enter. Upon searching the residence, one person was found to be deceased within the apartment.”
Michigan State Police fire investigator Sgt. Trevor Slater was called in to the help determine the cause and origin of the fire. Mason County Medical Examiner Dr. Marc Keen was expected to perform an autopsy today.
