12-year-old nearly drowns in campground pool

PERE MARQUETTE TWP. — A 12-year-old boy is in DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids as a result of a near-drowning at Poncho’s Pond Saturday afternoon. Emergency personnel were called to the scene after Seth Sevenski-Pompa of Hopkins, Mich. did not resurface after going under water.

He was pulled from the water by other members of his group. He was first transported by Life EMS to Memorial Medical Center then transferred to Grand Rapids. He is listed in serious condition as of 7 a.m. today.
