LUDINGTON — Skip Roy-Ernest Lange was sentenced to up to one year in jail today for operating a vehicle while intoxicating causing serious injury. The 18-year-old Scottville resident was the driver of a vehicle that caused an accident on May 29, 2012 on Ludington Avenue.
The accident caused Mark McBride of Grant Township, a passenger in his vehicle, to lose an eye. It also caused serious injury to Todd Courtland, the driver of the other vehicle.
Fifty-first Circuit Court Judge Richard Cooper sentenced Lange to serve six months in jail up front and then the remainder at the court’s discretion. He will also be on 12 months probation and must pay restitution.
Lange is no stranger to the court system in Mason County. In February 2012 he was convicted of fleeing the scene of an accident. In October 2012 he was arrested for trespassing and most recently, Judge Cooper said, he faces a charge of retail fraud.
According to Cooper, Lange was reported to have been traveling at speeds exceeding 50 mph on Ludington Avenue when the crash occurred on May 29, 2012.
