VICTORY TWP. – Nearly 140 West Shore Community College students are eligible to receive degrees and certificates at the college’s 43rd commencement ceremony to be held on Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. in the College’s Recreation Center Arena.
Speakers for the event will be Guy Smith, president of the Student Senate, WSCC Faculty Association president and Professor of Philosophy Dr. Matthew Sanderson, WSCC President Charles Dillon, and James Jensen, chairman of the board of trustees.
During the ceremonies, the College will also honor Darla Keillor with the Alumni Achievement Award. Keillor is a 1983 graduate of the college and employed at Fifth Third Bank in Ludington.
The graduates will be presented by Dr. Brooke Portmann, Dean of Instruction. Chairman Jensen and Dr. Dillon will award the degrees.
The Rev. Marc L. Eix, of the Faith Covenant Church in Manistee, will deliver the invocation and benediction.
Music for the event will be provided by the Grand Traverse Pipes and Drums and the WSCC Wind Symphony which is conducted by Associate Professor of Music Ted Malt.
Following the commencement ceremonies, a reception for the graduates and their families will be held in the Administrative and Conference Building.
