SCOTTVILLE — After sitting idle for over eight years the Sweetwater development on the northeast side of town will finally have its first home. City Manager Amy Williams reported to the city commission Monday that the owner of the development has pulled a building permit and plans to begin construction once the weather cooperates.
The new house will be a stick built duplex townhouse. “They are hoping this will spark some interest in getting others to build,” Williams said. “It’s a great development with underground utilities, full water and sewer.”
Williams said the site was built in 2005, just before the housing bust. Since that time it has sat idle. It is located off of East Broadway. The name Sweetwater was Scottville’s original name before being named after lumberman Hiram Scott in the 1880s.
