SCOTTVILLE — The Pere Marquette River has flooded parts of Scottville Riverside Park. The river’s water level has steadily increased over the last several days. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a flood warning for the river. At 4 p.m. Friday the stage was 5.3 feet, flood stage is 5.5 feet. The river is expected to rise to near 5.7 feet by early Saturday afternoon and then fall below flood stage by Sunday evening. At 5.5 feet, minor flooding has effected the camping area and parking lot in the park. According to the weather service the crest compares to
the previous crest of 5.8 feet on June 13, 2008.
Park visitors are being asked to use caution while traveling into the park because part of the Reeds Drive is flooded. Visitors’ vehicles should stay on the roadways.
