LUDINGTON — Dennis Dunlap is expected to be appointed to the Mason County Planning Commission Tuesday during the regular meeting of the Mason County Board of Commissioners.
Dunlap was selected among four people who were interviewed last week in front of the county’s Buildings, Planning, Drains and Airport committee. He is the president of Westshore Engineering of Muskegon and resides in Ludington. He is a civil engineer and has extensive experience working with various planning commissions in west Michigan, he told the committee.
“I think the planning commission is wrestling with some pretty important issues and I feel I have the experience and willingness to tackle those issues,” he told the committee during his interview. “I have gone through the zoning ordinance and I believe it is very well done. I think the planning commission has the responsibility to look at that ordinance and see that it is properly being applied.”
Other candidates included Ren Willis-Frances of Hamlin Township; Sue Boes of Ludington and Aldon Maleckas of Custer Township.
The county commission meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the courthouse.
