SCOTTVILLE — Mayor Richard Maki was sworn in at the regular meeting of the Scottville City Commission at City Hall Monday. Commissioner Dave Johnson is now Mayor Pro Tem. City Manager Amy Williams confirmed to the commission that former Scottville Mayor Joe Baxter turned in his resignation letter Monday morning.

Baxter’s position as a commissioner will need to be filled by a Scottville City resident from the second ward, someone who lives east of Main Street. The city has 30 days to appoint someone to the position or it will have to hold an election. The commission will be accepting letters of interest until April 1.
