LUDINGTON — Megan Payment said she has not ruled out running for mayor of Ludington but she has not made any decisions yet. A group of Payment’s friends entered Saturday’s St. Patrick’s parade endorsing the downtown business owner to run for Ludington’s top office.
“Saturday’s parade entry was an initiative started by a few of my friends after November’s elections,” Payment said. “While, I am certainly not ready to actually declare myself as running, I have received a flood of support from the people in the community whom I respect greatly.
“I cannot say that it isn’t a possibility, I was just as surprised by that parade entry as everyone else was, and need to take some time to consider my options.”
The group wore green t-shirts with “Megan Payment for Mayor” written on them. They also held a banner and handed out pins with the same message.
Payment is the co-owner of the popular Mitten Bar in downtown Ludington. She also works for the Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce.
This year is Mayor John Henderson’s last year in office.
