VICTORY TWP. — The West Shore Community College Art Department will host the 15th annual Regional High School Art Competition and Exhibit beginning March 11, in the college’s Manierre Dawson Gallery in the Arts and Sciences Building.
An artist reception will be held on Sun., March 17, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Student artwork will be displayed through March 23.
Sponsored by the West Shore Community College Foundation and the WSCC Art Department, ribbons will be awarded for first and second place in jewelry, sculpture, pottery, drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, video, textiles, and mixed media.
Area high schools have been invited to enter ten of their students’ best works and those included in the exhibit have been selected by high school art teachers.
This year’s juror is Brenda Sipe, a Grand Rapids artist and the Director of Youth and Adults Continuing Studies Program for Kendall College.
The Manierre Dawson Gallery is located in the Arts and Sciences Center. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
