Fire in Hamlin

January 28, 2013

HAMLIN TWP. — Five fire departments have been called to fight a fire at 6169 N. Lincoln Rd. Upon arrival, just shortly after 3:15 a.m., firefighters reported the two-story farmhouse was fully engulfed in flames.

Hamlin Twp. Chief Steve Vandervest requested road commission assistance as well, most likely because of icey road conditions. Hamlin and Pere Marquette fire departments were initially called. Ludington Fire Dept. was then requested to set up a water fill site at the Hamlin fire station; Scottville and Grant fire departments were called for water tankers. The American Red Cross canteen unit was also requested.

Mason-Oceana 911 reported, while dispatching, that the occupants were out of the house.
