Rep Franz welcomes constituents to share photos

January 24, 2013

State Rep. Ray Franz is inviting amateur photographers of all ages to submit their best digital images of northwest Michigan to share with legislative colleagues and visitors to the state Capitol, starting with winter themes.

“Our region earned national recognition for Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore being the most beautiful place in America, and that was awesome,” said Franz, R-Onekama. “Those of us who live here or visit weren’t surprised though, because we are blessed to be surrounded by the beauty and uniqueness of our local communities every day.

“With our residents’ help, I’m looking forward to helping our entire region share the pride we have in Pure Benzie, Pure Leelanau, Pure Manistee and Pure Mason.”

Franz will accept high resolution 1 MB to 4 MB digital images of scenic or action images capturing a winter-themed local highlight for the contest through Friday, Feb. 22 at rayfranz@house.mi.gov.

Entrees must include photographer’s name, address and phone number, as well as the image’s location and event information, as well as the date within the email.

All submissions will be posted on Franz’ ‘Representative Ray Franz’ Facebook page during the contest, with up to four selected from each county to have an 11×16-inch printing that will be displayed in the state Capitol.

Following the Capitol display, the photos will be showcased in the representative’s office until the summer/spring contest winners are rotated in during August. Owners will be sent their photo print.

For more information about the photo contest, contact Franz by email at rayfranz@house.mi.gov or call toll free 1-855-DIST-101 (1-855-347-8101).
