LUDINGTON — For the first time in memory, Ludington doesn’t have a single New Year’s baby, it has two newborns to celebrate. The first birth of 2013 is twin boys Christian and Arthur Hernandez. The brothers were born at Memorial Medical Center at 12:33 p.m. Thursday, January 3. Twins having the same time of birth is also highly unusual.
Christian weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 19 ½ inches. Arthur weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 20 inches. Their parents are Jennifer Gilbert and Cory Hernandez of Ludington. The boys have an older sister, Alexis Gilbert.
The boys were delivered by Margaret Gustafson, MD. Their pediatrician is Kenneth Hill, MD.
In honor of the occasion, the twins’ mom was presented with a gift basket, in addition to a baby logo t-shirt, and a cap for each knitted by a hospital volunteer. Some of the gift items included blankets, a sleepsack for safe sleep, hooded towels, case of diapers, formula, “onesie” garments, and a picture book.
The Family Birthing Center at Memorial Medical Center delivered 335 babies during calendar year 2012, compared with 318 the previous year.
