Squires appointed to board of chiropractic

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder has announced the appointment of Lewis Squires, of Scottville, to the Michigan Board of Chiropractic.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the nine-member board sets entry-level competency standards for health practitioners and verifies continuing education during licensure, protecting and promoting the public’s health, safety and welfare.

“Lewis is an experienced professional and I am thankful for his willingness to serve in this role,” said Snyder.

Squires is owner of Squires Family Care Chiropractic, where he has practiced for 34 years. He is a member of the Michigan Association of Chiropractors and former president of the Michigan Chiropractic Society and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce. Squires also serves on the American Chiropractic Association governor’s advisory cabinet. He attended Jackson Community College and Ferris State University, and holds a medical degree in chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. Squires will represent professionals and replaces Solomon Cogan.

Squires will serve a four-year term that commences Jan. 1, 2013 and expires Dec. 31, 2016. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
