SUMMIT — The Summit Township board will discuss cemetery fees during its meeting Monday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
During a special meeting on Oct. 22, the board discussed adopting a cemetery ordinance. At that meeting, Randy Wyman of Wyman Funeral and Cremation Services of Scottville offered suggestions for the township to consider regarding its cemetery ordinance. Wyman suggested allowing up to two cremains per lot.
The board is proposing burial charges of $350 for residents and $600 for non-residents and burials of cremains to be $150 for residents and $250 for non-residents. Plots will cost $350 to Summit Township residents only. Charges for a niche will be $750. A cemetery trust fund will be established and will be funded from 15% of the proceeds of cemetery fees.
Sizes of monuments can no larger than 2-feet by 3-feet by 18-inches, according to the new ordinance.
