Sheriff vehicles vandalized

July 16, 2012

LUDINGTON – Three vehicles owned by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office were vandalized Saturday morning. The incident happened in the north parking lot of the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Jeff Fiers said the windows of two patrol cars and a marine patrol sports utility vehicle were smashed. Nothing appeared to be taken from inside the vehicles.

“The reason could be one of many things,” Fiers said. “I don’t know if it stems from a case we’ve been working on or not.”

Fiers said he doubted the vandalism was campaign related.

The vandalism happened hours after a unanimous endorsement by the sheriff’s office’s uniformed staff for Fiers’ campaign opponent, Kim Cole, appeared in a local newspaper.

The Ludington Police Dept. is investigating.
